This week I spent two mornings taking part in an art class’s run by the incredibly talented and generous Fiona Graham Mackay.
I have not sat down and done an oil painting since I took my A levels (in 1998…) and was surprised by how successful it was, and how much I enjoyed it!
I feel the reasons I have shied away from oils are time, money and practicality. I intend to explore this beautiful and generous material further!
Everyone go and do an art course, meet up with a friend or three, join a group, whatever you want, but get out there and do some painting, just because it’s good for your soul.
These are my little paintings, whilst there is allot of space for improvement, I am immensely proud of taking the time for myself, that I haven’t forgotten everything I was taught, and for trying something different. Have a wonderful weekend. Sophie xxx

Sounds like fun! I am no artist, I shall stick to photography……
Painting can help teach photographers to see planes of the image, composition and light!
