Went out today to try to capture a magical tree, but alas the weather is not with me! Going to try one last time at mid day! But it wasn’t a complete waste of a holiday morning as I did get a few shots, that I have been playing with using Snapseed, a free photo editing app.
Thus far it seems pretty simple to use for little experiments. Think you could make some interesting gift card images or photoscreen print images using apps like this.
If anyone has advise on other iPad apps to use please let me know! And as always, feedback is greatly appreciated!
The magic tree from yesterday.
I have been trying out a few photoshop filters on an image of woods.
Years ago I had art envy of a print of woods, just simple tree trunks printed in a soft burnt umber tone. I don’t know who the artist was, but believe it was from Vermont. I love woods and trees; their graceful, majestic strength, their constant change and energy.
So, I am trying to have an exploration of how to produce a similar image, my style. Any advise, support or pointers on who to look at for inspiration, always welcome!
I am currently in Devon, and today it finally stop raining enough for a little exploration. I went to Ark Pottery, run by Vaughan and Angela Glanville. It is a great place, they have a wheel in the shop (where 2 children were being helped to make their own cups), and loads of wonderful pottery!
It is great to see a working pottery, making gorgeous unique work. Check out their website, or better go and see it!
Just incase anyone missed it, or forgot to do it…
I have been short listed for a photography competition run my The Print Space.
I submitted this image because I found it made me consider Natural v manmade architecture.
This is a successful image for me because:
I like work that makes you have little ideas floating around that could become important ideas and for me this image works with thinking about nature, and environment, and lots of things like that.
I aesthetically like the contrast between the soft, warm sand dune, the hazy blue grey sky, and the hard, square, controlled building.
Hope you like it to!

I have been short listed for a photography contest with The Print Space!
The image is one I took on a recent trip to dubia of a new construction obscured by sand dunes.
Hope you like it and please vote via the print space!

I love it when you are talking through students ideas and helping guide them to get inspired and you re find an artists work that you had forgotten.
